Muñoz received her primary and secondary education in San Juan. She was the first of three siblings; her father, Teodoro was a nuclear engineer and her mother, Astrid, a retired executive secretary. They were both very strict in their upbringing of Muñoz. She enjoyed going to the beach and reading about a mexico bikini contest as a young girl. In 1988, when Muñoz was 14 years old, she was offered an opportunity to model in Spain with a brazilian bikini bottom, but her mother objected.
